WTO sets up panel to examine India’s EV, battery incentives after request by China
The World Trade Organization’s Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) on Tuesday agreed to set up a dispute panel to examine India’s production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes for batteries, electric vehicles and related sectors, following a request by China. The move marks an escalation in trade tensions between the two countries over support measures in the automotive and renewable energy space.
CAFE 3 draft heads to PMO, small car norms spark concerns
New Delhi: In a key policy development, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power is set to submit the final draft of the Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFE)-3 norms to the Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday, even as concerns persist within sections of the government and industry over the treatment of small cars and changes in technical definitions.

Mumbai: India’s automotive sector is set to witness the launch of IIMS, a new large scale industry platform with the announcement of the India International Motor Show 2026. The first edition of the show will be held from 24th to 26th April 2026 at the CIDCO Exhibition & Convention Centre. IIMS is being organised by the Percept Group in alignment with leading Automotive industry Associations.

Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj expressed strong concerns about the Maharashtra government’s electric vehicle (EV) policy. Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Bajaj said the company has received only a small portion of the incentives it is owed under the state scheme and is uncertain whether the remaining subsidies will be disbursed.
