Bharat Taxi launch set to disrupt ride-hailing market
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday launched Bharat Taxi in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat, India’s first cooperative-based ride-hailing platform, at an event at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The platform, operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL) in collaboration with the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) and supported by NABARD and Amul, marks first of its kind government-backed entry into the aggregator-dominated ride-hailing space.

Tata Punch EV facelift launch on February 20
Tata Motors will launch the refreshed Punch EV on February 20, as it looks to claw back electric vehicle (EV) market share, which currently stands at around 46%. Speaking on the sidelines of the company’s Q3 results announcement, Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said competition in the EV segment has intensified, with 70–75% of market growth now driven by new launches. “We did see a market share dip earlier, but we are gradually clawing back and are now at around 46%, after falling to nearly 36% at the low point,” he said.

Ola Electric responds to Elon Musk, says dry electrode cells in use on Indian roads
New Delhi: Ola Electric Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal on Thursday said the company has already operationalised dry electrode battery manufacturing, with cells produced using the process currently powering electric scooters on Indian roads. His comments came after Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted on X that making the dry electrode process work at scale was “incredibly difficult”, calling it a major breakthrough in lithium battery production. Responding to Musk’s post, Aggarwal said Ola’s dry coating process has been working since last year and that lakhs of cells are already in use by customers.
Truck rentals flat in January; EV adoption and SUV demand lift mobility outlook
Chennai: India’s mobility sector entered 2026 on a stable footing. January data indicates that truck rentals remained largely flat month-on-month across key trunk routes, while recording healthy year-on-year growth of 5%–12%. The onset of the Rabi harvest in January, along with increased movement of agricultural produce across regions, kept trucking activity busy, says the Shriram Mobility Bulletin.
