Tata Motors shareholders approve plan to split into two listed companies
Tata Motors said on Tuesday its shareholders have approved the company's plan to split the automaker into two listed companies, separating its passenger and commercial vehicle arms. Tata Motors had said last March that it would divide its commercial vehicle arm from its passenger business, which houses its cash cow luxury Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) brand, to unlock better growth prospects. The proposal, which would give the shareholders equal stakes in both the listed entities, was approved with 99.9995% of votes, it said in an exchange filing.
Duty-free quota on British EVs capped at a few thousand under FTA with India: Official

Mahindra gears up to launch new PV plant by FY28
Mahindra & Mahindra has been on a roll for the last couple of years, flooding the market with new products starting from the XUV 700 in 2021, followed by Scorpio N, Thar Roxx and now the born electric duo — the XEV 9e and the BE 6. The company registered an 18% growth last quarter, and according to FADA (Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations) retail sales data, Mahindra sold 48,405 units in April. This is a massive 25.09% year-on-year increase. With such positive signs, Rajesh Jejurikar, ED and CEO – Auto and Farm Sectors, M&M, said during the Q4 earnings call that the company will start working on a completely new greenfield project to be up by FY28. Mahindra has confirmed that the new plant will be focused on passenger vehicles (PV).

MG Windsor EV Pro price starts at Rs 17.49 lakh
The MG Windsor EV Pro has been launched at Rs 17.49 lakh. It slots in above the current Windsor EV variant line-up, offering some key enhancements inside and out. For buyers who opt for MG’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, the Windsor EV Pro price starts at Rs 12.49 lakh, where the battery cost is excluded and instead charged on a monthly basis depending on the number of kilometres driven or a predetermined amount. Bookings will commence on May 8. Do note that this introductory price of Rs 17.49 lakh is for the first 8,000 bookings only.

Tata loses ground to MG, Mahindra in April 2025 EV sales
Electric passenger vehicle manufacturers in India have sold 12,330 units in April 2025, a strong year-on-year increase of 58 percent (April 2024: 7,783 units), which translates into an additional 4,547 EVs sold last month. That’s not all – as per Vahan retail sales statistics, April 2025 is now the new EV sales benchmark, having surpassed the previous best of April 2024, which in turn had bested April 2023 (6,039 units) and April 2022 (2,255 units) by a fair margin and reflected the growth of this zero-emission vehicle segment.
TVS iQube ahead of Ola S1 and Bajaj Chetak in April 2025 EV sales
After wrapping up FY2025 with record sales of 1.14 million units, electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India have registered robust retail sales of 91,791 units in April 2025, up 40 percent YoY (April 2024: 65,555 units). This is as per the latest retail sales data available on the Vahan portal (7am on May 1, 2025).
