India’s auto major Mahindra & Mahindra and Germany’s Volkswagen Group are believed to have put their partnership/joint venture on hold. While both companies claim to be working on “long term feasibilities”, sources said the joint venture has been put in cold storage. Sources said Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, which was leading the talks, is doing a “re-think”. The two companies have not been able to iron out differences, and Skoda is actively considering dropping out of the project.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has sold over 675,000 cars with connected features since 2019. These features are available in 12 of their 14 car models in India, and utilise the Bluelink platform. This AI-based technology connects the vehicle to the user's mobile device. In 2024, connected car sales comprised 25.7% of HMIL's retail sales, a significant increase from 4.7% in 2019. The company aims to expand Bluelink's features and availability.

However, since the demand are coming from some of the right-hand drive countries, the company has now plan to export it too, after meeting the demand here in the domestic market, a senior official has said.

Osamu Suzuki posthumously conferred with Padma Vibhushan
Osamu Suzuki, former chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation, was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan – India's second-highest civilian honour.
