Govt aims to push local EV Tech: DST Secy
The government is aiming to facilitate development of indigenous technology to help the country become self-reliant in the expanding electric vehicle (EV) sector by reducing dependence on the China-led supply chain, said Department of Science & Technology (DST) secretary Abhay Karandikar.
Delhi to get vehicle scrapping facility
New Delhi : The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has informed the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that the registration process for setting up a Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RSVF) in Delhi has commenced. Currently, Delhi lacks an RSVF to dismantle overage vehicles scientifically, and such vehicles are sent to neighbouring states for disposal.

Chennai: Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country’s second-largest car maker, has announced significant strides in its electric vehicle (EV) localisation efforts. The company has collaborated with over 194 vendors to optimise costs and support the ‘Make-in-India’ initiative. Since 2019, the company’s efforts have yielded forex savings of $672 million (₹5,678 crore) and created over 1,400 direct jobs.
Sales boost for auto dealers as deal with Meta helps digitisation
As many as 48 per cent of new vehicle buyers use messaging applications for communicating with dealers, marking how such purchases are shaped by technology and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and dealers embracing digitisation. Digitisation through Meta platforms -- Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp -- resulted in a 32 per cent improvement in customer lead generation efficiency for dealers and a similar rate of decline in cost per lead. The gradual shift happened after Meta partnered with FADA in January 2023 for an initiative that enables automobile dealers across India to reach consumers digitally. As many as 10,000 out of 15,000 FADA dealers are part of the initiative called ‘Move with Meta’, with plans to add the remaining 5,000 too in the next two years. The initiative has led to three-fold growth in dealer digitisation, according to data.

Auto component firm Kinetic Engineering targets Rs 1K cr revenue by 2029
The investment is primarily aimed at expanding the electric vehicle (EV) business and diversifying its strategy by exploring opportunities beyond the automotive sector. Approximately Rs 100 crore of the investment will be directed towards KEL’s EV business, which is expected to contribute up to Rs 650 crore of the targeted Rs 1,000 crore revenue.
Auto component industry expected to grow 8%-11% in FY25: ACMA
New Delhi: Industry body ACMA (Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India) has projected the Indian auto component sector to achieve year-on-year growth ranging from high single digits to low double digits in the April 2024- March 2025 period. This can be attributed to higher value addition from the sector and export demand.
Kinetic Engineering announces INR 177 cr investment to propel growth in automotive components and EV sector
KEL's promoters will invest INR 177 crore through convertible warrants over 18 months. An initial investment of INR 55 crore is committed by March 2025. Outside investors, including Transaction Square LLP and Sai Geeta Penumetsa, have subscribed to warrants worth INR 17.10 crore.

The Business Agreement was signed between Tata Power-DDL and TPEVCSL in the presence of Senior Officials from both the organizations. In line with MoP guidelines, as part of its initiative to expand public charging infrastructure in Delhi, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has made its public parking sites available to Delhi Discoms and PSUs, including Tata Power-DDL, for Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning (SITC) of EV charging stations.
Tata Power DDL inks pact with group's EV charging arm to develop charging infra in Delhi
Tata Power Delhi Distribution on Tuesday announced its partnership with Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Ltd for developing public electric vehicle charging infrastructure at Delhi Municipal Corporation sites. The tie up aims to promote the adoption of electric vehicles in Delhi, aligning with Tata Power-DDL's vision of a 'Green Tomorrow' and supporting India's goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2070, according to a statement.
Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (Tata Power-DDL), a power utility supplying electricity to a populace of around 9 million in North Delhi, has announced a strategic partnership with Tata Power electric vehicle (EV) Charging Solutions (TPEVCSL) to develop public EV charging infrastructure across the parking sites of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
The business agreement was signed between Tata Power-DDL and TPEVCSL in the presence of senior officials of both organisations.
In line with the Ministry of Power guidelines and as part of its initiative to expand public charging infrastructure in Delhi, the MCD has made its public parking sites available to Delhi Discoms and PSUs, including Tata Power-DDL, for Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning (SITC) of EV charging stations.
TPEVCSL has finalised the parking sites and MCD has allocated these designated parking sites to Tata Power-DDL for 10 years.
Tata Power-DDL is also working closely with MCD to identify additional sites for installation of EV charging stations.
"This partnership highlights Tata Power-DDL's expertise in delivering reliable and sustainable power solutions, as well as our commitment to advancing the EV ecosystem in the National Capital," Gajanan S Kale, CEO of Tata Power DDL, said.
Tata Power DDL is a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of NCT of Delhi.

Suzuki Motor president, Toshihiro Suzuki, stated at the reveal of the Maruti e Vitara at the Auto Expo 2025 that all its electric vehicles for global markets will be manufactured in India. Suzuki plans to export the vehicles to Japan as well as European markets, despite a slowdown in EV sales. He noted that the company decided to focus all its EV production in a single location after undertaking a detailed study.
New Porsche Macan petrol under consideration amid EV sales slump
Porsche is considering reversing its decision to make the second-generation Macan SUV exclusively electric. The Macan EV was revealed in January last year as the brand’s second EV after the Taycan, with plans for the smaller SUV to go all-electric. The current petrol Macan was discontinued in the EU in April, but markets like the UK and India will have the ICE version for a little longer.
