BMW Industries plans B2B steel products' market foray: MD Harsh Bansal
Currently, BMWIL serves as a service provider for steelmakers, offering manufacturing services. Now, the company plans to buy raw materials, process them into finished products at its upcoming Bokaro plant, and sell them. The over three-decade old company has six manufacturing and processing units in West Bengal’s Kolkata and Asansol and one in Jharkhand’s Bokaro for HRPO Coils, CR Coils, GP Coils, GC Sheets, MS and GI pipes, TMT rebars and other steel products.

Hike in duty drawback on gold, silver to boost exports
The Customs has notified that gold jewellery drawback rate has been increased to ₹405.40 per gram from ₹335.50 of net gold content. For silver jewellery and related articles the rate has gone up to ₹4950.03 per kilogram from ₹4468.10 of net silver content.

JSW Energy will supply electricity from its proposed 1,600 mega watt power plant at Salboni to West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd at a ‘levelised tariff’ of ₹5.45 per unit, making it one of the competitively priced sources of energy for the state in years to come.

Centre set to amend the Atomic Energy and Nuclear Liability laws
Moves are apace to amend the Atomic Energy Act 1962 and the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act (CLNDA) to give the private sector a bigger role in nuclear energy commerce. However, many wonder how deep and wide the reforms could be in a sector that has been the zealously guarded monopoly of the government since 1958. The Union Budget 2025-26 had hinted at it. But External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was forthright when he said last week that extensive changes in the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act and the Atomic Energy Act 1962 were on the cards.
