India has a solar power potential of over 3,300 GW: MNRE
New Delhi: A study by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) shows that India’s cumulative potential for solar power is more than 3,300 gigawatts (GW), compared to the government’s 2014 projection of around 748 GW. The study conducted by the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) under MNRE’s administrative charge, offers a comprehensive evaluation of India’s ground-mounted solar PV potential by integrating data from multiple sources, including satellite imagery, meteorological records and land use database.
