Govt targets swadeshi solar cells by 2028
The government is preparing a comprehensive plan to develop a complete Swadeshi solar value chain including wafers, ingots and polysilicon, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi said on Thursday. The government is also targeting indigenous solar cell manufacturing by 2028.

Despite 54% surge in exports, India turns net steel importer in August
New Delhi: India’s steel trade flows diverged sharply in August, with exports climbing more than 50 per cent on a year-on-year basis, while imports tumbled by a similar number, even as the country turned a net importer of the metal. India bucked a two-month trend of being a net exporter, as imports exceeded exports for the five-month period between April and August.

Nitin Gadkari urges sugar units to foray into ethanal-diesel blending, green hydrogen
With the projection of a significant rise in sugar production in the 2025-26 season (October-September) due to surplus monsoon rains, union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on Thursday urged the sugar industry to diversify their operations and explore ethanol-diesel blending and green hydrogen production.
‘Paid campaign targeting…’ Nitin Gakdari once again slams critics of govt’s E20 fuel program
The discussions around ethanol blended fuel don’t seem to end anytime soon. Once again, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari charged against what he described as a “paid campaign” targeting him. Gadkari on Thursday dismissed recent criticism of the government’s ethanol blending programme while speaking at the 65th Annual Convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). “The social media campaign was a paid campaign against me. The Supreme Court has already dismissed the petition. There was no fact,” he said.

NMDC: Riding the wave of rising global prices and strong domestic steel demand
Shares of NMDC Ltd have risen about 11% so far in September, buoyed by robust sales growth even in a typically slow season. Sales volumes climbed 8% year-on-year in August, a seasonally weak month because of the monsoon rains, pushing overall growth in the first two months of the September quarter (Q2FY26) past 10%.
