Gains for NTPC hinge on faster project execution to recover losses
NTPC reported Q3FY25 operating profit (standalone) in line with consensus but adjusted net profit was below consensus. Generation was up 2 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) in Q3FY25. Under-recovery in coal-based plants stood at Rs 470 crore in 9MFY25 and is likely to decline to Rs 300 crore by FY25 end, according to management.

Mumbai: After bidding aggressively for iron ore and coal mines, Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Steel is now spending money to surrender them. One of the largest steel producing company, JSW Steel has written off ₹445 crore to surrender a coal and iron ore mine this quarter.

Gold’s yearly return at 8% since 1971: WGC
Chennai: Gold prices have increased by 8 per cent on an annualised basis since 1971, comparable with that of equities but higher than that of bonds. The precious metal has outperformed many other asset classes over the past three, five, 10 and 20 years besides 2024, the World Gold Council (WGC) said in a research note “Gold as a strategic asset”.

Oil falls as Trump repeats call for OPEC to cut prices
Oil prices slipped on Monday after U.S. President Trump called on OPEC to reduce prices following the announcement of wide-ranging measures to boost U.S. oil and gas output in his first week in office.
Adani Total Gas added 28 new CNG stations, PNG connections by 28,677 households in December quarter
It expanded PNG home connections to 9.22 lakh, by adding 28,677 new households. Also, it has increased industrial and commercial connections to 8,913 with 167 new consumers added.
 
Adani Total Gas Q3 Results: Profit declines by 19.40% to Rs 142.38 crore, revenue up 12.61% YoY on higher volume
Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL) on Monday reported a profit decline of 19.40 per cent for the third quarter of FY25 to Rs 142.38 crore, in comparison to Rs 176.64 crore recorded during the corresponding quarter of FY24. The profit decline was attributed to increased depreciation due to expanding asset base. It posted revenue from operations at Rs 1400.88 crore, up 12.61 per cent as against Rs 1244 crore recorded during the third quarter of previous financial year, on account of higher volume.

IoCL gets five bids for setting up green hydrogen plant at Panipat: Chairman
Indian oil Corporation (IoCL) has received five bids to set up a 10,000-tonne-per-annum green hydrogen plant at its Panipat refinery, which will be India’s largest plant producing the commodity termed as the climate friendly fuel alternative for hard-to-abate sectors such as refineries, steel plans and heavy-duty logistics. This is the third tender by the state-run oil marketing company (OMC) for setting up the plant. The earlier two tenders were cancelled.

The stalls were run by people from the project-affected villages, proudly offering their products to employees and others. The project is providing both quality training and full financial support to these villagers, enabling them to produce handmade items such as soaps, spices, lac bangles, and Sohrai paintings, as well as cultivate mushrooms. This initiative is making the villagers more empowered and self-reliant, improving their livelihoods. With the support of the project, they will now be able to sell their products in nearby markets, allowing them to better support their families.
