Coal India reports 1.2% increase in production in November at 68 mt
Kolkata: State-owned coal behemoth Coal India on Monday reported a 1.2 per cent year-on-year increase in its production to 68 million tonnes for the month of November this year from 67.2 million tonnes in the same period last year. However, in the first eight months of this financial year (April-November, 2025), Coal India’s cumulative output witnessed a 3.7 per cent y-o-y fall to 453.5 million tonnes (mt) compared to 471 mt in the corresponding period of the last financial year.
Coal stocks at thermal plants up 34% on year
Coal stocks at thermal power plants improved to 53.6 million tonnes at the end of November, up 34% from the year-ago level as above-normal rains led to lower than anticipated electricity demand.
