First critical mineral block auctions winners to be announced on Monday
Winners of six critical mineral blocks under the first round of auctions will be announced on Monday. The preferred bidder for the hotly contested Katghora block will be among those being unveiled, making it India’s first lithium and rare earth element (REE) mine.

PLI projects: Steel Min fast-tracks visa approvals for Chinese experts
New Delhi: India’s Steel Ministry is facilitating visa processes especially for Chinese technicians and experts who would be working on PLI projects covering speciality steel.  Mapping the progress of the speciality steel making schemes, under PLI, would be taken up soon, sources in the know said.  Against a revised expected investment of ₹16,000 crore for FY24, actual investments were 10 per cent lesser, or at ₹14,500 crore, the last review carried out showed. Companies / scheme beneficiaries had previously committed to invest ₹21,000 crore last fiscal. 
Essar awaits final approvals to start work on USD 4.5 bn steel plant in Saudi Arabia
New Delhi: Essar Group is awaiting final approvals to start investing about USD 4.5 billion in building a low-carbon steel plant in Saudi Arabia, its top official Prashant Ruia said. The approvals are expected anytime now, after which the conglomerate will start working on the 4 million tonne per year steel plant along with port facilities at Ras Al-Khair in Saudi Arabia.

Tata Steel threatens to advance furnace shut down in UK
Mumbai: Tata Steel has threatened to shut its blast furnaces in the UK earlier than planned amid an indefinite strike call given by a certain section of workers to protest against 2,800 job losses. The company, which has a capacity to produce 3 million tonne of steel a year in UK, plans to shut down one blast furnace at the end of the month, while the second one is scheduled to be closed by September-end.
