Tesla’s India factory plans may be delayed
Tesla’s plans to build an assembly line in India under the government’s new electric vehicles policy, may get delayed as the company has announced that it will focus on utilising its existing factories to produce new, more affordable vehicles by late this year.

Tesla may not come to India anytime soon if reports are to be believed. According to a Reuters report, the US-based electric vehicle maker is now planning to use its existing factories to build new and more affordable vehicles as early as late this year, rather than investing in new factories in Mexico and India in the near future.

New Delhi: Vietnamese electric vehicles (EVs) maker VinFast has said that the company seeks to continue receiving support in investment policies from the Indian government as well as fostering a conducive environment for business operations to jointly bolster green transportation in India. The company that had announced $2 billion investment at Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu also said that in order to benefit from long-term incentives for EVs, it would accelerate the construction of the manufacturing facility.
Bombay High Court strikes down archaic ‘BH’ number plate diktat
In a big relief to owners looking to transfer their vehicle registrations to Bharat (BH) number series, particularly in Maharashtra, the Bombay High Court has struck down a circular issued by the state’s transport commissioner in February 2024, imposing certain conditions while deciding on applications for registration of vehicles under the BH series.

Renault-Nissan has dropped plans for an entry-level A-segment EV for our market, sources tell us. The alliance is now planning to work on a Creta-sized electric SUV based on the CMF-B EV platform – this new EV platform is being tweaked from the standard CMF-B architecture to support EV powertrain.
