New Delhi: There is a need to have a task force solely for automotive exports in order to boost the export of components to $100 billion by 2030 from $20 billion now. Also, by then 25 per cent of the automobiles made here should be exported, said Pawan Goenka, chairman, Steering Committee for Advancing Local Value-Add and Exports (SCALE), which comes under the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, at the 63rd SIAM Convention. Speaking to Sohini Das, Goenka said startups were playing a huge role in the transition to electric vehicles.

The government will look at imposing additional taxes to restrict sale of diesel vehicles unless automakers voluntarily move away from the fuel, Minister of Road, Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari (MoRTH) said.
Diesel PV sales likely to come down with stricter emission norms
"It is a natural phenomenon that as the emission regulations keep tightening, the cost of acquisition will keep increasing, and this process (decline in diesel vehicle percentage) will be much faster going forward," Maruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) Shashank Srivastava told reporters here on the sidelines of SIAM annual convention.
SUVs and MPVs boost passenger vehicle sales in India to highest-ever level in August
 The industry body claimed that this growth in the passenger vehicle segment reflects the resilience and dynamism of the sector. Among the automakers, Maruti Suzuki saw an uptick of 16 per cent with 156,114 units dispatched to the dealers in August 2023, compared to 134,166 units recorded in the same month a year ago. Its closest rival Hyundai dispatches 53,830 units last month, up from 49,510 units dispatches in the corresponding month last year.

Hyundai monthly output up by 4,000 units
The country’s second largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) has increased its production capacity by 50,000 units thus taking its total annual output to around 820,000 against the earlier 770,000 units. Speaking to Fe, chief operating officer (COO) Tarun Garg said that as a result of capacity expansion, since July the company has been producing 4,000 more units a month, which has seen its monthly wholesales going up to 53,000 units from the earlier 48,000.

Leading carmakers Maruti Suzuki India and Hyundai Motor India on Tuesday said the percentage of diesel cars in passenger vehicle sales is expected to come down with stricter emission regulations, increasing the cost of ownership. On a day when Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari spoke of the need to levy an additional 10 per cent tax on diesel-run vehicles to help cut emissions, although clarified that there is no proposal under the government consideration to impose such a tax, the automakers pointed out that already sales of diesel passenger vehicle have been declining.

TVS Supply Chain Solutions reports increased net loss in Q1
Chennai: TVS Supply Chain Solutions Limited reported increased net loss at ₹65.3 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2023, against a net loss of ₹1.8 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue was down 12 per cent to ₹2,342 crore (₹2,675 crore). Ravi Prakash Bhagavathula, Global CFO of TVS Supply Chain Solutions Ltd, in a release said overall profitability showed a decline because of higher interest cost and a one-time exceptional expense of ₹25.57 crore during the first quarter. For the year ended March 31, 2023, the company reported a net profit of ₹41.76 crore on revenue of ₹10,311 crore.

Business performance was driven by a very strong growth momentum in the Integrated Supply Chain Solutions segment (ISCS). The ISCS revenue was ₹1,318.9 crore, up 20.1 per cent YoY. The ISCS segment revenue grew in all geographies (India, Europe, North America) both sequentially and YoY. Expansion in existing engagements and new business development drove revenue growth.
