Govt to hold pre-emption right over oil, gas in national emergency: Draft rules
The government will hold pre-emption rights over all oil and natural gas produced in the country in any event of national emergency, according to draft rules being framed under a revamped oilfields legislation. A pre-emption right (or preemptive right) is the legal right of a party - often a government or existing shareholder - to purchase or claim a product, asset, or resource before it is offered to others.
Benign crude, high refining margins to boost OMCs earnings in Q1FY26
State-owned oil marketing companies are expected to register a healthy first quarter (Q1 2025-26) amid weak crude oil prices and improvement in refining margins, analysts say.  Earnings in the period will also get a boost from lower LPG under recoveries due to an increase of Rs 50 per cylinder in domestic LPG prices by the government.

3 GW of Tata RE projects delayed
Several solar and wind projects of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), totalling 3.08 GW, are facing delays in execution. Most of these are in Karnataka, including 1.3 GW projects coming up in Koppal. Two wind power projects in Gadag, with capacity of 540 MW, are suffering a delay of nearly two-and-a-half years. For sure, TPREL’s projects are among many others that are delayed due to various reasons, mainly land acquisition and right-of-way issues, as can be seen in a document of the Central Electricity Authority.
Hope from the Sun: Maharashtra’s energy transition shows the way

As India’s largest industrial and power-consuming state, Maharashtra is expected to witness a 6.5% annual increase in power demand. That translates to a requirement of more than 280 billion units of electricity by 2030, with peak demand jumping from the current 29 GW to 45 GW — a scale comparable to that of major European nations.
