Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition introduced as dealer-level upgrade
Toyota has launched a new version of its rugged seven-seat SUV, called the Fortuner Leader Edition. This version is based on the diesel 4x2 variants, and adds a few features and some exterior changes. At the sidelines of the launch, the Japanese brand also said it has sold over 2.5 lakh Fortuners in India since its launch in 2009.

Toyota, in a bid to celebrate selling 2.5 lakh Fortuner sales in India, the company has introduced the Fortuner Leader Edition, based on the 4X2 variant of the SUV. The new Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition gets a few add-on features and exterior upgrades.

Toyota has introduced a mild-hybrid version of the Fortuner SUV in South Africa. The Fortuner MHEV shares its mild-hybrid tech with the Hilux MHEV that was revealed late last year. Following its introduction in South Africa, the SUV is also expected to go on sale in other markets in the coming months.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced that despatches of the Innova Crysta MPV, Fortuner SUV and Hilux pick-up have resumed in India. The Japanese brand’s statement said that Toyota has “re-confirmed that the diesel engines meet the stipulated Indian regulations.”

Toyota has officially resumed dispatch of its diesel-powered models namely Innova Crysta, Fortuner, and Hilux. The Japanese carmaker had briefly paused dispatch of these models on 29 January 2024 after reportedly discovering inconsistencies during its diesel engine horsepower certification testing in the above-mentioned models.
