MG India has released special editions of four models to celebrate 100 years of the brand’s existence. These versions have been launched only for Hector, ZS EV, Astor and Comet. MG’s most expensive offering in India, Gloster, has been left out of these limited editions. The company has not mentioned how many units it will manufacture for these.

MG Motor India has launched the new Hector Blackstorm Edition, with introductory prices starting at Rs 21.25 lakh for the petrol-CVT variant, going up to Rs 22.76 lakh for the diesel-MT 6-seater variant, ex-showroom, India. The Hector is the third model in MG’s line-up, after the Gloster and the Astor, to get a Blackstorm Edition, and akin to them, it gets a blacked-out exterior and interior and remains mechanically unchanged.

MG Motor India has introduced two new trims to the Hector line-up – Shine Pro and Select Pro – that replace the Shine and Smart, respectively. The Shine Pro is priced from Rs 16 lakh and the Select Pro is priced from Rs 17.30 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, India). However, the bigger news is that the starting price of the Hector is now Rs 14 lakh, Rs 95,000 less than before. This is the second price cut it has received in the last six months.

MG Motor India announced its retail sales numbers for February 2024, totalling 4532 units. The company registered a growth of 18% over the previous month, January 2024, with 3,825 units sold during the same period last year. In December 2023, the company’s retail sales were at 4,400 units, resulting in a 13% YoY growth over December 2022.

MG Motor India joins the long list of carmakers currently offering tempting year-end discounts. The Chinese-owned British brand has revealed its December 2023 discount list that has offers for the entire MG car and SUV line-up, including the Comet EV hatchback and the ZS EV SUV.

According to MG Motor's December Fest, the biggest discounts will be offered on models like Gloster, Astor and ZS EV. Gloster and Astor SUVs will be up for grabs with straight discount of ₹one lakh. These two will also come with exchange benefits worth another ₹50,000. The ZS EV, MG Motor's first electric vehicle launched in India, is also available with similar benefits.

MG Motor said that the latest price hike became necessary due to rising production costs. The carmaker issued a statement today which reads, “This hike is owing to the rising costs attributed to overall inflation and increased commodity prices."MG Motor has not shared details on how big the price hike will be. However, the carmaker has announced that it will roll out special year-end offers for its customers to evade paying more for its models from January.

MG Motor had launched the 2023 Hector during the Auto Expo held in January at a starting price of ₹14.73 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hector Plus SUV was launched at a price of ₹20.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hector SUV, available in both petrol and diesel versions, is offered in six variants called Style, Shine, Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro, and Savvy Pro. After the latest price hike, the Hector SUV will be available at a starting price of ₹15 lakh while the top-end Savvy Pro variant will come at a price of ₹22 lakh (ex-showroom).

MG Motor India may hike Hector SUV price by 2-2.5% immediately
MG Motor India is reportedly increasing the price of its Hector SUV by 2% to 2.5 % across all variants with immediate effect, according to ETAuto sources. This is the second price hike for MG’s best-selling SUV this calendar year after the first hike by INR 16,000 to INR 21,000 in May 2023.
