Mahindra has been working on ramping up production and reducing wait times for delivery for a while now, and these efforts seem to be paying off. At the end of January 2024, the Indian SUV specialist has significantly reduced its order backlog and delivery times, and now, just two months later, waiting periods for the Scorpio and Scorpio N have reduced again.

Mahindra Thar, XUV700, Scorpio, XUV300, Bolero backlog reduced to 2.26 lakh units

Mahindra has announced that it has 2.26 lakh open orders for its SUV line-up as of February 1, 2024, which is a significant reduction over the 2.86 lakh unit backlog the brand had at the beginning of November 2023. The brand says that it receives an average of 50,000 bookings per month, and has ramped up deliveries to about 40,000 units in a month; this, along with a previously announced ramp up in production, has helped reduce the number of open orders Mahindra currently has.

The Scorpio-N's disappointing safety rating at the ANCAP has prompted Mahindra to announce that it will make necessary changes when the SUV undergoes mid-cycle update. The carmaker is now expected to offer ADAS in the SUV when the facelift arrives, a feature Mahindra offers only in the XUV700 SUV as of now. Reacting to the ANCAP safety rating, Mahindra and Mahindra issued a statement which read, “The ANCAP has specific requirements, which were updated on January 1, 2023, that include the mandate for certain safety features. We at Mahindra are committed to our promise of safety and are working towards meeting these unique safety regulations and requirements for Australia as part of our product mid-cycle update."
