Silver imports from UAE route rises sharply
The India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed in 2022 is giving substantial fillip to imports of silver through that route in recent months. In the first three months of the calendar year, over 40% (1,542 tonnes) of silver import in India in 2024 far has been come through the UAE route.
West Asia conflict threatens to hit jewellery exports further in Q1
The conflict in the Middle East is expected to impact gems and jewellery exports in the April-June period of this financial year as demand is expected to weaken, the export promotion body for the sector said Monday.
Plain gold jewellery exports up by 61.72% to $6792.24 million in FY24, UAE emerges as a significant market
Exports of plain gold jewellery has surged by 61.72 per cent to $6792.24 million in FY 2023-24 as compared to $4199.96 million in FY 2022-23, said The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) in a report. 
Gem, jewellery exports shrink 14% to $32-b on weak demand

Thanks to the free trade agreement, plain gold jewellery exports to UAE more than doubled to $4.53 billion in FY24 against $2.18 billion in the previous year. Markets of UAE and Bahrain accounted for over 85 per cent of plain gold jewellery exports. Gold jewellery exports to Australia also increased by 37 per cent due to ECTA (Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement).

Strong demand, demerger hopes positive for Hindustan Zinc's stock
The Q4FY24 and FY24 results of Hindustan Zinc, a leading producer of zinc, lead and silver, indicated that the cycle for non-ferrous metals may be close to bottoming out. While Q4FY24 revenue stood at Rs 7,500 crore (down 11 per cent year-on-year) there was sequential quarter-on-quarter (Q-o-Q) revenue growth of 4 per cent vs Q3FY24. The sequential growth was driven by better zinc volumes.
